How to size your project
Load grows with page views per day, added up across all sites, and with how long the records stay in the database. The 2 GB minimum plan is the base, and Apache is sized from memory, 8 to 64 processes. Start at the minimum for a few sites and add memory as traffic grows, keeping an eye on the MariaDB disk.

About Matomo
Matomo is a web analytics platform that runs on your own server: it counts visits, pages, traffic sources, campaigns and goals for one site or many, and keeps the data in a database of yours. The project presents itself as an open source alternative to Google Analytics, and it is used by people who want their visit history under their own control.
At Master da Web, Matomo 5.14 arrives already installed, with MariaDB, behind Caddy over HTTPS. Matomo's web installer, which would hand control to the first visitor, is switched off, and so is the web updater. The interface comes in Portuguese, the first site uses the America/Sao_Paulo time zone and BRL currency, and visitor IP anonymization (2 bytes) is on. Reports are built every hour by a systemd timer.
To start collecting, replace the example site with your real address under Administration and paste the tracking code into the head of every page. Visits show up at once in the visits log, before the reports are even built.

The address, the admin login and the generated password arrive in the order e-mail. The example site, “Meu site”, is only a placeholder: replace it with the real address and paste the tracking code into your pages, or nothing is collected.
