In today’s post, we’re going to take you through the step-by-step process of upgrading Windows Server, in this case, we’re going to upgrade Windows Server 2016 to Windows Server 2022.

1º We will need the machine to be fully up-to-date, if not, update it using Windows Update.

2º After the update you will need to mount the image of the version you want and mount it.

To upgrade Windows Server, you’ll need to have the ISO of the version you’re going to upgrade already downloaded on your machine.

3º Run the Setup of the image you want and you will be directed to the Windows installation wizard.

4º In the first step, just click on “Next”, it will search for some updates, and if it doesn’t have any, it will direct you to the next step.

5º It will show you the System version options, choose the one that will suit you, by default, we will choose 2022 Standard Evaluation (Desktop Experience), as this version has a graphical interface.

6º After choosing the version, you will go to the License Terms page, it is important that you know the terms, after that, just click on “Accept”.

7º Now it will present you with one of the most important parts of the update, the page on whether or not to keep all the files.
In our case, the option to keep the data is disabled because we don’t have anything installed on the VPS.

8º Once you have chosen, just wait for the updates to the new version.

9º After the update, simply click on “Install” and wait for the system to update.

10º After installation, simply confirm the system language and press “Next”.

11º After that, just set the password and your system will be ready to use.

After this procedure, you need to open a ticket so that we can activate your operating system.
