About Ubuntu Desktop (XFCE)

Ubuntu Desktop (XFCE) is a Linux computer in the cloud: a full Xfce desktop with Firefox, a file manager, a terminal and a text editor, which you open with the same Remote Desktop (RDP) app you use to reach a Windows server. It is for people who want an always-on desktop without paying for a Windows licence.

At Master da Web it runs on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, with Xfce 4.20 in Brazilian Portuguese, the Brasília time zone and your own computer's keyboard layout (ABNT2 or US International). Firefox comes from Mozilla's official repository, in Portuguese, and updates automatically along with Ubuntu's security updates. The order e-mail carries the address, the user desktop and a password generated at install, plus the steps to connect from Windows, macOS, Linux and phones.

The connection is encrypted (TLS) on port 3389, root never signs in over Remote Desktop, and five wrong passwords within 10 minutes block that address for 10 minutes. When you disconnect, the session stays open, with your programs running. Text and images go through the clipboard; files travel over SFTP (WinSCP, FileZilla) with the same user and password. Extra programs, backing up your files and limiting port 3389 to your IP in the firewall are yours.
