Every plan includes public IPv4 and IPv6, NVMe storage and a 1 Gbps uplink. Click one to reach the checkout with everything filled in.

How to size your project

Most network tools use little CPU and memory; what weighs is the number of devices and connections and, for VPNs and relays, traffic. Start with the recommended plan and watch usage.

What to use a RustDesk Server VPS for

Some of the most common uses. The server is yours — run whatever you like on it.

  • Give remote support to customers and colleagues through your own ID and relay server, not the public RustDesk ones
  • Reach unattended computers with nobody in front of them, using a permanent password, for maintenance and after-hours support
  • Support machines behind NAT and customers' firewalls without opening any ports on their network
  • Look after the company's own computers from anywhere, with a direct session when the network allows and the relay when not

About RustDesk Server

RustDesk is open source software for remote access and IT support: you see and control another computer's screen, transfer files and help users from a distance, as an open alternative to tools such as AnyDesk and TeamViewer. For computers to find each other, it uses an ID server (hbbs) and a relay (hbbr). RustDesk Server is that pair, and this VPS comes with it installed and running.

It is the RustDesk server for support companies, IT providers serving several customers and anyone looking after their own company's computers, including unattended machines reached with a permanent password. The client runs on Windows, macOS, Linux and Android; on iOS it can control other computers but cannot be controlled.

With a server of your own, ID registration and session relaying happen on your VPS rather than on RustDesk's public servers. Connections go directly between the computers whenever the network allows; when it does not, they pass through your server's relay. And RustDesk Server OSS is open source (AGPL-3.0), with no charge per technician or per device.

At Master da Web, the server comes up with RustDesk Server OSS 1.1.16 (pinned) on Debian 13, with hbbs and hbbr locked to the server's own key: the Ed25519 key pair is generated at installation, and anyone who does not present the public key is refused by both the ID server and the relay, so nobody uses your VPS's bandwidth without your key. Before finishing, the installer tests the server the way a client would, including that a wrong key is refused. The welcome e-mail carries the ID server (port 21116), the relay (port 21117) and the public key; /root/rustdesk-server.txt also holds a line ready to paste into Import server config.

It is up to you to configure each client, both the computer you connect from and the one you connect to, to keep a copy of the key pair (in /opt/rustdesk-server/data; a new key means reconfiguring every client) and to update when you choose. Honest limitations: RustDesk Server OSS has no web console, user accounts or address book, which belong to RustDesk Server Pro, RustDesk's paid edition; and the web client, in the browser, is not enabled.

Software features

  • Your own ID server (hbbs) and relay (hbbr) for your RustDesk clients
  • Locked to the server's key: anyone without the public key is refused
  • Direct connections between computers when possible, the relay when not
  • Works with RustDesk's unattended access and file transfer
  • Clients for Windows, macOS, Linux and Android, plus iOS to control others
  • Ed25519 key pair generated at installation, in /opt/rustdesk-server/data
  • ID server, relay and public key in the welcome e-mail
  • A line ready for "Import server config" in /root/rustdesk-server.txt
  • Installation tested as a client: right key accepted, wrong key refused
  • RustDesk Server OSS 1.1.16 pinned to its version, in Docker containers
  • Open source (AGPL-3.0), no charge per technician or device
