About Chatwoot
Chatwoot is an open-source customer support platform that brings conversations from your website chat, e-mail, WhatsApp and channels such as Instagram, Facebook and Telegram into one shared inbox. The team answers everything in one place, and each contact keeps its history. With a Chatwoot VPS, that omnichannel support desk runs on your own server.
Support, sales and customer success teams use Chatwoot to route conversations between agents and teams, organize them with labels, exchange private notes, reply with canned responses and automate work with rules and macros. You can also publish a help center with articles, measure satisfaction (CSAT) and follow reports, in the browser or in the Android and iOS apps.
On your VPS, conversations, contacts and attachments stay on your server (in Brazil, if you choose Belo Horizonte), and there is no per-agent fee: the Community Edition is open source, under the MIT licence.
On Master da Web, the VPS comes up with Chatwoot 4.18 Community Edition from the official image, pinned to its version, with PostgreSQL 16 with pgvector and Valkey, all behind HTTPS with an automatic certificate. The administrator is created by the installation before the page goes public, so nobody can claim your Chatwoot through the initial setup screen, and public account sign-up is switched off. The login is your account's e-mail (or admin@<server-name> if that address cannot be used) and the password is generated; both arrive in the welcome e-mail, with the address https://<your-server>/app/login, and are kept in /root/chatwoot.txt. The account's language is Brazilian Portuguese (you can change it in the settings), and usage metrics are not sent to the project.
What stays with you: Chatwoot's own e-mails, such as password resets, invitations and notifications, need an SMTP server set in /opt/chatwoot/.env, although signing in works without one. Each channel also needs its own account: WhatsApp comes in through Meta's official Cloud API or providers such as Twilio and 360dialog, and e-mail through your mailbox over IMAP and SMTP. Paid-edition features, such as the Captain AI assistant, SLA policies and SSO/SAML sign-in, are not part of the Community Edition.
