YOUR PROJECT + OUR INFRASTRUCTURE

Ruby on Rails VPS

A VPS with Ruby on Rails pre-installed · By Ruby on Rails

Your Rails app in production, with database and jobs, by git push.

Rails 8.1 on Ruby 4.0 with Puma, PostgreSQL 18 and Caddy over HTTPS, a new application online and git push deploys.

  • Rails 8.1, Ruby 4.0 with YJIT and PostgreSQL 18 already wired and working
  • Solid Queue, Cache and Cable with their own databases, no Redis to install
  • A git push to main installs the gems, prepares the database and restarts the app

Pick the right plan for Ruby on Rails

Every plan includes public IPv4 and IPv6, NVMe storage and a 1 Gbps uplink. Click one to reach the checkout with everything filled in.

How to size your project

We measured about 750 MB in use after install, with Puma, the Solid Queue processes, PostgreSQL and Caddy; that is why the minimum is 2 GB. Consumption grows with Puma workers and threads, queued jobs and database size. bundle install and assets:precompile also run on the server, at every deploy.

How to order Ruby on Rails

  1. Pick a plan

vCPU, memory and disk sized for your project. You can grow it later without reinstalling.

  2. Confirm the order

Pix, bank slip or card. Nothing is charged until you confirm, and you have a 7-day guarantee.

  3. Ruby on Rails ready in minutes

The server comes up with Ruby on Rails installed and configured. Access details appear in the panel.

What to use a Ruby on Rails VPS for

Some of the most common uses. The server is yours — run whatever you like on it.

  • Deploy a Rails app with Hotwire, Active Record and background jobs, all on one server
  • Keep a Rails staging environment on the production stack to test migrations and deploys
  • Run an MVP or an internal system on Rails, with local PostgreSQL and Active Storage on disk
  • Learn Rails 8 and the Solid set on a real application, with full access to the server

About Ruby on Rails

Ruby on Rails is a Ruby web framework that brings routing, Active Record, jobs and views in one set of conventions, to take an app from nothing with little infrastructure code.

Here Rails 8.1 runs on Ruby 4.0.7, compiled on the server with YJIT, under Puma, with PostgreSQL 18 and Caddy over HTTPS. The installer creates a new application, with a sample notes screen and the databases for Solid Cache, Solid Queue and Solid Cable; Solid Queue runs inside Puma. The app lives in /srv/rails, a git repository: a git push to main runs bundle install, db:prepare and assets:precompile and restarts the service.

The master key (RAILS_MASTER_KEY) arrives in the e-mail. The application is yours: send your code, keep database.yml and puma.rb reading the environment as the sample does, and take care of the domain, outgoing e-mail and PostgreSQL backups.

Software features

  • Rails 8.1 on Ruby 4.0.7 compiled on the server, with YJIT, under Puma
  • PostgreSQL 18 on localhost only, with separate databases for Cache, Queue and Cable
  • Solid Queue runs inside Puma: background jobs with no second service
  • A git push to main runs bundle install, db:prepare and assets:precompile, then restarts
  • Application generated by rails new, with a notes scaffold and a /healthz route
  • app-rails console opens the Rails console with the application environment
  • RAILS_MASTER_KEY and SECRET_KEY_BASE generated, in /srv/rails/.env, for root only
  • Caddy over HTTPS, with force_ssl on; Puma listens on 127.0.0.1:3000 only

What your Ruby on Rails gets at Master da Web

Manage infrastructure from one panel: security, recovery, connectivity and growth. Check prices and availability when configuring your server.

  • Snapshots

Take a snapshot of Ruby on Rails before a risky update and roll back to it with one click, without reinstalling anything.

  • Automatic backups

Scheduled copies of the whole server, kept off the host. Restore the complete Ruby on Rails whenever you need to.

  • Managed firewall

Rules by port and source, applied from the panel, no iptables editing. Open only what Ruby on Rails needs.

  • Security Center

Continuous external scanning of your server, with findings prioritised and the fix spelled out for each one.

  • Private network (VPC)

Connect Ruby on Rails to databases and other servers over an isolated network with nothing exposed to the internet. With a VPN Gateway for remote access.

    About the VPC →

  • DDoS protection

Volumetric attack mitigation for your Ruby on Rails server. Check protection options and prices when ordering.

    DDoS protection →

  • Grow without reinstalling

Add vCPU, memory and disk from the panel and pay only the difference, and Ruby on Rails stays exactly as it is.

  • API and MCP for automation

Create, resize and manage servers through the public API — or straight from an AI assistant, over MCP.

Ready infrastructure, with the freedom to configure your application your way.

01

With your VPS

Your chosen image installed, the plan’s resources and a panel to manage the server. Administrative access is provided after provisioning.

02

Configure for your business

The e-mail carries the URL, the git clone command and the Rails master key; the SSH password is root's. Clone, send your code with git push and use app-rails console for the console. Ruby is compiled on the server during installation, which takes a few minutes. Domain, outgoing e-mail and backups are left to you.

03

Expand when you need to

Backups, snapshot capacity, DDoS protection, private networking and other features are available as you need them. Check prices and availability when configuring your server.

You administer the system and application, including updates and data. For help with configuration or management, talk to our team about the scope of support.
