About Mattermost
Mattermost is an open source alternative to Slack for team messaging: public and private channels, direct messages, threads, files, search and integrations through webhooks, bots and commands. It has desktop and mobile apps, and teams use it when conversations have to stay on infrastructure of their own.
At Master da Web it arrives as Mattermost Team Edition 11.11 with PostgreSQL 18 and HTTPS through Caddy. The administrator (user admin, generated password) and a private team called Main are created with mmctl and tested before the site is public. Open sign-up is off: people join by invitation link or are added by you.
E-mail is not configured: e-mail invitations, password resets and e-mail notifications need an SMTP server of yours, set in System Console > Environment > SMTP. The invitation link works without e-mail. Your own domain, SMTP and backups are yours, and monthly releases call for regular updates.

Configure for your business
The address and the password of the user admin come in the order e-mail. Sign in, open the Main team and invite people with Invite People. Set up SMTP in System Console > Environment > SMTP for e-mail invitations and resets. Your own domain, SMTP, monthly updates and backups are yours.
