How to size your project
We measured about 315 MB in use with Directus idle, so 1 GB covers tests and small projects. Load grows with API traffic, table sizes and image transforms on uploaded files; disk grows with uploads. It is a single instance, with no Redis: for production traffic, 2 GB gives PostgreSQL some room.

About Directus
Directus puts an admin panel and REST and GraphQL APIs on top of a SQL database: you model collections, define roles and permissions, and people who do not code edit the data in a visual interface. It is used as a headless CMS and as a data panel for apps.
Here you get Directus 12.4.1 with PostgreSQL 17 and HTTPS, with the Data Studio at /admin. The administrator is created in the same step as the tables, through the official bootstrap, with a generated password; the setup route, open to anyone while no user exists, is tested and refused before Caddy opens the server. Without a license key it runs the free Core tier: 3 seats and 25 collections.
On first sign-in Directus asks about a license key; the answers are yours and can be postponed. Usage telemetry stays on in that tier. Password-reset e-mail needs SMTP in the compose file; backups, PostgreSQL and uploads are yours to look after.
