How to size your project

Game servers depend more on memory and per-core CPU than on disk. Concurrent players, mods, plugins and world size all raise usage: start with the recommended plan and watch usage at peak times.

About Counter-Strike 2

Counter-Strike 2 is Valve's tactical shooter and the successor to CS:GO, and a dedicated server lets you play on your own terms: 5v5 matches with friends, practice, tournaments or a casual server that is always open. With a CS2 VPS from Master da Web, the server has its own IP address and stays up without depending on anyone's PC.

When ordering you choose the mode: competitive (5 against 5 with the full match rules), casual (up to 10 against 10), wingman (2 against 2 on smaller maps) or deathmatch, for warming up. You can lock it with a password and, through the remote console (RCON), change maps and restart matches from inside the game.

Hosting your CS2 server on a VPS means root access, freedom to tune server.cfg and install plugins yourself, and a predictable monthly cost. The server can sit in Belo Horizonte (Brazil) or Dallas (USA), whichever is closer to your players.

At installation SteamCMD downloads Valve's official dedicated server to your VPS: about 61 GB, taking roughly 73 GB on disk (hence the 100 GB minimum). It runs as a service under an unprivileged user on port 27015: the game on UDP and the password-protected remote console on TCP. The server updates itself at every start and checks Steam every 15 minutes for a new version: when one is out, it restarts as soon as nobody is playing, or within 60 minutes at most, with a warning in the chat. The RCON password, generated at installation, arrives in the welcome e-mail with the address to join and the status of your Steam token; everything is also kept in /root/counter-strike-2.txt.

For players outside the server's own network to join over the internet, Steam requires a game server token (GSLT): free, created with your own Steam account for App ID 730. Add it when ordering or later in the panel, where the name, mode and join password can be changed too. And follow Valve's rules: giving players items they do not own (skins, knives, gloves, agents or ranks) gets the token's Steam account banned from running servers, and nothing of the kind comes installed.

Software features

  • Valve's official dedicated server, downloaded from Steam by SteamCMD
  • Updates at every start and whenever Steam publishes a new version
  • Restarts to update once the server is empty, or within 60 minutes with a warning
  • Competitive (5v5), casual, wingman and deathmatch modes
  • Remote console (RCON) with a password generated at installation
  • Optional join password, applied without kicking players already in
  • Name, game mode, join password and Steam token changeable from the panel
  • Steam token (GSLT) checked: if Steam refuses it, the server stays up
  • systemd service under an unprivileged user, secrets kept off the command line
  • cs2-console command for the server console straight over SSH
  • Your own server.cfg, run at every map change

What we would put it on, not a limit.

Before you start

When you order, Counter-Strike 2 will ask for:

  • Steam game server tokenCan be added later

Steam uses this free token to put your server online, so players can join it over the internet (Steam calls it GSLT). You create it with your own Steam account.

Anything that can wait is added on your server's page, whenever you have it.

What your Counter-Strike 2 gets at Master da Web

Manage infrastructure from one panel: security, recovery, connectivity and growth. Check prices and availability when configuring your server.

  • Snapshots

Take a snapshot of Counter-Strike 2 before a risky update and roll back to it with one click, without reinstalling anything.

  • Automatic backups

Scheduled copies of the whole server, kept off the host. Restore the complete Counter-Strike 2 whenever you need to.

  • Managed firewall

Rules by port and source, applied from the panel, no iptables editing. Open only what Counter-Strike 2 needs.

  • Security Center

Continuous external scanning of your server, with findings prioritised and the fix spelled out for each one.

  • Private network (VPC)

Connect Counter-Strike 2 to databases and other servers over an isolated network with nothing exposed to the internet. With a VPN Gateway for remote access.

    About the VPC →

  • DDoS protection

Volumetric attack mitigation for your Counter-Strike 2 server. Check protection options and prices when ordering.

Expand when you need to

Backups, snapshot capacity, DDoS protection, private networking and other features are available as you need them. Check prices and availability when configuring your server.
