When searching for the best bank to receive Google Adsense payments, we found several results on the Google Adsense Forum pointing to Banco Rendimento as the best bank to receive this type of international remittance, since according to the editors, Banco Rendimento’s rate is US$20.00 (dollars).
For years I received monthly payments from Google Adsense into my Caixa Econômica Federal account. Over the years the fee, which was only R$30.00, reached R$63.50 + IOF on my last payment through Caixa Econômica Federal (October 2016). Dissatisfied with the constant delays in getting the money into my account, I decided to change banks and ended up choosing Banco Santander as an experiment.
When I changed my IBAN code to Santander, I was a little wary, as the divergent information on the internet pointed to different amounts in the transfer fee charged by Banco Santander, even reports of abusive amounts. Concerned, I called the bank’s exchange office and the attendant told me that the rate was negotiated directly with the manager, and that as soon as I received the payment order in my account, I should go to my branch to sign the exchange contract so that it would be available in my account.
Within 4 working days the payment order appeared in my Internet Banking:
I then went to my branch, with the money order in hand. I spoke to the manager and asked her first about the fee charged by Santander and then I found out that Santander charges a fee of between R$ 60.00 and R$ 190.00, depending on the type of person (Individual or Corporate) and the value of the transaction, this value is quoted automatically by the system according to the information given to the manager.
After answering a few questions from the manager, I signed the exchange contract:
My fee was only R$ 60.00, for an amount received of almost US$ 200 (dollars). I even believe that the rate of R$ 60.00 supports values well above US$ 200 (dollars). The money went into my account straight away. My only dissatisfaction was that Santander converts the dollar at slightly below market value. On that day, the dollar was quoted at R$3.20, but they converted it to R$3.09. Depending on the amount received, this difference of a few cents makes a significant difference in the end.
Due to the inexperience of the staff, it took a while for them to be able to carry out the whole procedure, but I left satisfied because the procedure is quite simple.
Conclusion
Banco Santander seemed to be much more agile than Caixa Econômica Federal, and in a few days my payment order was already visible on the Internet Banking itself, which was not possible at Caixa, which has an archaic Internet Banking system with few resources. What’s more, while I was using Caixa Econômica Federal, as I said earlier, the money sometimes took more than 15 days to land in my account, while this first payment I received at Santander was very quick and even lower than the rate charged by Caixa.
