About Seafile

Seafile is a file sync and sharing platform: you keep everything in libraries on the server, sync folders with the desktop client (or SeaDrive) and the mobile apps, share by link and control who reaches each library. It is the base of a drive of your own for teams and families.

The installation is the Community 13.0 edition (seafile-mc image 13.0.28), with MariaDB 10.11 and Redis, behind HTTPS and in Portuguese. The administrator is created and tested before the site goes public; the login is your account's e-mail, and the generated password comes in the order e-mail. Public sign-up stays off. SeaDoc, the notification server and Seafile AI are not installed.

At first sign-in Seafile creates the library “Minha Biblioteca”. Clients and apps use the server's address; uploads and downloads always go through that name. Your files live in /opt/seafile/data, a folder you should copy together with the database. E-mail sending and changing version are up to you.

With your VPS

Your chosen image installed, the plan’s resources and a panel to manage the server. Administrative access is provided after provisioning.

Configure for your business

The e-mail carries the address, the login (your account's e-mail) and the password. Sign in, use “Minha Biblioteca” and connect the desktop client or the app to the same address. Create the other people under System Admin > Users. E-mail (SMTP), your own domain, backing up /opt/seafile/data and changing version are up to you.
