Understand how video game characters, animations and super-realistic architectural designs are created.

WHAT IS RENDERING?

Rendering is the act of obtaining a product through a digital process.

This process essentially applies to 2D and 3D modeling programs, as well as audio and video.

WHAT IS IT FOR?

Create realistic-looking images, videos, films and 3D works.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

First, 3D modeling software creates the desired image with as much detail as possible: light, depth, textures, shadows, brightness, roughness and colors. The images, although very real, are superficial and lifeless.

After this process we go to the rendering software for the “polishing”, that’s where the magic happens. It transforms superficial images into photorealistic ones with a wealth of detail.

CURIOSITY

At CCXP 2019, Julien Bolbach, a visual effects specialist who worked on the Lion King movie, revealed that each frame of the live-action film took 60 hours to render and that 15,000 computers were used simultaneously to do the job.

If the film were rendered on a single computer, the work would take around 9,000 years to complete!

Much of this delay in rendering is due to the special care taken with the film’s lighting, which was designed to be as natural as possible, with several layers of light.

Incredible, huh?

For those of you who are fans of high-resolution games and don’t mind a good image, go back and read about the video card. It is extremely necessary and essential for your game to perform well.
