The MTR tool is a combination of ping and tracerout. The idea of the MTR is to find out where the
data is traveling and diagnose the exact point at which a supposed data loss may be occurring on the network.
If your server doesn’t work, doesn’t respond to connections, there could be several causes.
Example:
1º The server may be disconnected.
2º It could be a fault in the network. Check that it hasn’t been compromised and that the information from your host can reach its destination.
The importance of using the MTR is precisely this: it makes it possible to diagnose how the data journey was completed from its origin to its destination. This makes it possible to take all the necessary steps to remedy any errors once we know their origin.
