MercadoPago is a payment intermediary that is very popular in Brazil. When we use a payment intermediary, we expect it to offer us some kind of protection against chargebacks due to its high fees.
I used MercadoPago as the main means of payment for my services for two months, and this period was enough for me to have lost more than R$800.00 in chargebacks.
The image above shows some chargebacks in which MercadoPago withheld the money from my account. When I got in touch by phone and email, I was informed that MercadoPago does not offer protection for intangible products, and that only proof of delivery such as tracking codes for products sent by the Post Office or carrier are accepted as proof.
In other words, whether you are a seller of intangible products (such as products sent by email) or a service provider, DON’T USE MERCADOPAGO ! If you fall into the above conditions, you will probably have losses with chargebacksYou won’t even be able to file a lawsuit because MercadoPago’s terms of use do not protect intangible products.
